For years, the Betreuerschaft (Priestertum) has been telling the Kinder (Gemeindeglieder) that if they give their Betreuer Gummibärchen (Ablässe), they can get out of Toilettendienst (Fegefeuer). A zealous young Betreuer (Martin Luther) actually reads the Liederbuch one day and discovers that the Betreuer have been altering the lyrics of Waldseelied to peddle this message. He attempts to bring this up during Gesang, but is silenced by the Leiter (Tetzel). He goes around in the Pause discussing his ideas with other Betreuer, but finds little sympathy. Frustrated and increasingly convinced that the Betreuerschaft is in error, he nails his 95 Theses to the door of the Gasthof as the Kinder are gathering the
