Waldsee Meisterschaft (WM)

The Waldsee Meisterschaft (WM) is a competition between the Häuser (LKT vs LKT, KT vs KT) which incorporates various daily activities to encourage the use of German throughout Waldsee. Villagers are awarded Individuelle Perlen for successfully participating in and completing various activities as individuals, which in turn counts toward the Perlen total for their Haus. Häuser can be awarded Haus-Perlen for successfully participating in and completing various activities as a whole Haus, which in turn counts toward the Perlen total for their Haus. The Haus-Perlen are worth more than the Individuelle-Perlen. The total worth of a Haus's Perlen are added up at the end of Abendessen, and the total for each Haus is written down on a board in the Gasthof so that everyone can see how each Haus is vying in the Meisterschaft. At the end of the competition, the winning LKT Haus and the winning KT Haus receive a special prize (Pizzaabend mit Günther, Schmuggelwaren Party, Kinoabend, etc...). The KT competition normally lasts 7 days (Wednesday of the first week to Wednesday of the second week) and the LKT competition lasts for 21 days (Wednesday of the first week to Wednesday of the fourth week). The following rules should be passed out to all of the Hausbetreuer in advance and should be clearly posted in the Gasthof.

Perlenausgabe Regeln:

Notes from previous years:

    • It helps to have all of the "Nur Deutsch" Tische stand up at once instead of having them all make individual announcements. This saves time.

    • The number of Perlen received for certain activities may need to be adjusted according to difficulty of the activity.

    • Making an announcement at the end of Abendessen to explain the standings of the Häuser will increase competition and make the Meisterschaft more interesting.

    • As long as the Perlen are being collected at the end of each day, you should never need more than 500 perlen to run the WM.

    • You may want to consider simply counting the Individuelle-Perlen at the end of the day instead of collecting them during Abendessen so that the villagers can leave the beads on their Namenschild-Schnur to show how hard they have worked in the WM. In this case, upwards of 750 to 1000 beads may be necessary with a big session.

A good way to help explain this competition to the kids is to mention its similarity to the Hogwarts House Cup competition in the Harry Potter books.
