30 Years War
This large-scale simulation is designed to provide villagers with the opportunity to learn about one of the most significant events in European history through a detailed role play.
Villagers taking part in this simulation will be able to answer the following questions
What were the causes of the 30 Years War? What role did religion play? How about geopolitics?
Why did the 30 Years War last 30 years? What underlying currents were at play across Europe? How did these factors change throughout the war?
What is the significance of the Treaty of Westphalia, which ended the war? How did the resolution of the war alter politics across Europe
This simulation is designed for 25-40 participants. You will need the following:
one counselor with knowledge of the history of the Thiry Years' War to be the Spielleiter
one counselor who has been briefed on game rules and history per team
a large map of Europe on which all relevant players are depicted. This can be hand drawn on a large piece of paper so that the game leader can mark any relevant changes in territories throughout the game.
